Initiated by the ministry of higher education and scientific research, the project BIRUNI’s essential objective is to constitute a Union catalog by bringing together holdings record of all university libraries and then providing them with necessary means and efficient information system, and so allowing an ergonomic and consistent access to the existing documents.
The academic library network of Tunisia, known by the acronym BIRUNI, is a group of libraries belonging to institutions of higher education and scientific research under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and/or co-supervised with other ministries. BIRUNI manages a collective catalog of 190 libraries serving students, researchers and teachers in 13 universities, 5 research centers and the General Direction of Technological Studies.
The BIRUNI collective catalog is accessible online and gives access to a 951 591 of bibliographic references to locate more than 2 860 448 of documents. This catalog also makes it possible to locate 127365 academic work including 67 097 of thesis. Click here to access the portal
